An access log is a complete list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a certain website. Each and every file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have a single webpage with 3 embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log usually provides the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s Operating System, web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your website. The information that an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a site, independent of the web stats which your hosting server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your cloud website hosting account and visit this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you'll see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your PC and examine it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you don't need one, you'll be able to stop it with just a mouse click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You will still have the ability to access the already created content by clicking on the Download link.
